What made you want to DJ?
Im trying to remember that far back. I always wanted to for as long as I can remember. I guess it was growing up listening to Hip Hop mix tapes.
What was the first track you bought specifically to DJ with?
Again, another tough one to remember. When I started buying vinyl to DJ with I bought A LOT! But I do remember being very excited to find a copy of “Jump Around” in ’94
Everybody wants to be a DJ these days. What ignites your passion to continue, despite the competitiveness within club culture?
Being 2 kinds of DJ (Commercial and Not-So-Much) Ive always being playing, but for the longest time I stopped buying/ listening/ spinning “good tracks”.
It has been the internet that has re-ignited my passion for the underground scene. Places like Soundcloud and Mixcloud giving a platform to perform, the opportunity to buy digital tracks from places like Traxsource, and things like online Mix Comps started to excite me again. And now with platforms like d3ep, its easy to keep being inspired.
If you could go back in time and be involved in the club scene of any era, when would this be and why?
I think I would have liked to be involved in the scene in the mid-late 70’s. Watching how funk and disco records were being transformed to both Hip Hop and House culture.
Who would be your dream guest on your show?
Finally, an easy one! Jazzy Jeff
If you could go B2B with any DJ on the planet, who would it be and where?
As above, Jeff. Anywhere would do, but if I had to choose, Id love to play at The Do Over in LA.
What’s your musical guilty pleasure? – Don’t be shy
Ha, ask anyone, I’m in no way ashamed to love cheese!
If you could only listen to the same 5 records for the rest of your life, what would they be?
Stevie Wonder – Songs In The Key Of Life
Michael Jackson – Off The Wall
De LA Soul – 3ft High And Rising
A Tribe Called Quest – Midnight Marauders
Wu-Tang – Enter 36 Chambers
