Mikki Funk was brought up on a mix of Blues and 80s Soul, with a good helping of House and Garage thrown in later on from his older siblings. Naturally then, his DJ and production style evolved to encapsulate the key aspects of these aforementioned genres; musicality, harmony, groove, energy, and soul.
After honing his unique blend of US & UK Garage combined with Soulful House and cutting his teeth with a slew of digital releases, Mikki crept onto the house and garage scene in 2012 with the release of his long-awaited and first vinyl EP ‘The Vibe Coalition’. This dropped on Made Fresh Daily Recordings, featuring none other than French maestro Kool Vibe (My Love Is Underground, Traxx Underground) on remix duties. Since then Mikki’s style as a DJ and producer has continued to develop, having DJ’d around the UK, Germany and France, as well as releasing on prestigious labels such as Plastik People, Deep Down Slam and Boogie Cafe.
Never one to stick with just one style or sound, both Mikki’s production and DJ styles meander seamlessly through a variety of flavours, whether that’s soulful, uplifting house, deep and moody 5am business, bassline driven bangers, or jazzy, swung garage vibes. As long as it’s musical and groovy in some way, shape or form, anything ‘House’, ‘Garage’ or ‘Disco’ is fair game.
