What made you want to DJ?
A 5 hr set from Derrick Carter at Remedy here in SF. Changed my life for sure. Man was on beast mode. I already loved house but seeing him perform just pushed me over the edge
What was the first track you bought specifically to DJ with?
First record ever was the Jetlag EP on Naked Music
Everybody wants to be a DJ these days. What ignites your passion to continue, despite the competitiveness within club culture?
It’s the love. It doesn’t matter if I’m playing in front of two people, if they are enjoying it, then I’m straight! Makes me happy
If you could go back in time and be involved in the club scene of any era, when would this be and why?
Probably the late 90’s or so. I came in to the scene in the early to mid 00’s. Would’ve loved to be a part of that scene for sure
Who would be your dream guest on your show?
If you could go B2B with any DJ on the planet, who would it be and where?
DJ Spen or Grant Nelson anywhere…
What was the last tune that was stuck in your head before this interview?
DJ Spen & Tracy Hamlin – Thanks To You (Extended Version).. Farah!
If you could have made any of the the records you have played which one would it be and why?
Man… Bodyswerve by M-Gee on Swing City and So Right by Jetlag on Soulfuric. Those two tracks were so massive when they came out. There’d be nights where all the deejays booked would play both songs in all of their sets. As a producer, what more could you ask for right?
What’s your musical guilty pleasure? – Don’t be shy 😉
INCOGNITO and similar types. My favorite group hands down. So musical and just down right good a$$ muzak!
If you could only listen to the same 5 records for the rest of your life, what would they be?
Jet lag – So Right
M-Gee – Bodyswerve
Stereo Flavas (Jamie Lewis Mix)
Lisa Shaw – Always (Naked Music)
Donnie – Cloud 9 (Quentin Harris Mix)
